I am so sick of all these gym fans whining about how sorry they feel for McKayla and what an injustice it is that she doesn’t have an Olympic vault gold and how worried they are about her and blah blah blah…

Injustice?  Really?

Tell that to Alicia Sacramone, who did two fantastic vaults in Beijing, only to place 4th behind Cheng Fei, who fell. 

Tell that to Janine Berger, who did two beautiful vaults and placed 4th behind Maroney, who fell on her ass, and Paseka, whose Amanar attempt should never have been credited to begin with.

Yes, it sucks for Maroney that she fell on her big day. Yes, it’s unfortunate that the best vaulter in the world doesn’t have the gold medal to prove it. But it’s not unjust. What’s unjust is that Maroney has a medal at all. She should be thanking her god or goddess or lucky stars or whatever that she has that silver medal, because next quad this medaling with a fall shit won’t be happening anymore.

And meanwhile, save your fucking “injustice” tears for people like Berger and Sacramone, who did everything right, yet came away with nothing to show for it because a flawed system rewards high difficulty vaults landed ass to mat over beautifully executed, slightly lower valued vaults.
